Description

Single-neuron transcriptome profiles of Dorsal Raphe neurons marked by a history of expression of Drd2::Cre and Pet1::Flpe (GFP+), as well as Dorsal Raphe neurons marked by a history of Pet1::Flpe expression only (mCherry+). Overall design: GFP and mCherry expressing neurons from triple transgenic Drd2::Cre;Pet1::Flpe;RC:FrePe mice were acutely dissociated, manually sorted, and single-neuron RNA-seq was performed (17 GFP+ cells, 8 mCherry+ cells).

Description

In mouse, spermatogonial stem/progenitor cells are the progenitor cell which develop to mature sperms through a series of mitotic and meiotic divisions and differentiation. Gfra1 is an established surface marker for mouse spermatogonial stem/progenitor cells. In this study, we used a transcriptomic approach to investigate the effect of aging on Gfra1-positive and -negative populations of mouse male germ cells.

Description

Hydrogen sulfide (H2S) is formed naturally from L-cysteine in a variety of mammalian and non-mammalian cells. To date, numerous biological effects have been ascribed to H2S including control of cardiovascular, immune and nervous function. Over or under production of H2S has been observed in several disease states including hypertension and inflammation. In addition, it has been stipulated that H2S may affect the ageing process. The model nematode Caenorhabditis elegans is ideally suited for assessing drug effects on lifespan since it is relatively short-lived, can be easily exposed to drugs and its genome is fully sequenced and widely annotated.
